UOT’s Community & Partner Relations team recently embarked on a partner tour of Washington County, led by Matthew Watson and Jamie Allen from the Greater Zion Convention & Tourism Office. Tourism Director Brittany McMichael along with Joyce Kelly, Chad McWilliams, and Sara Otto joined UOT representatives Natalie Randall, Camille Johnson, and Rachel Creer at various points throughout the tour, showcasing the region’s innovative developments, ongoing challenges, and abundant opportunities.
Under Brittany McMichael’s capable leadership, the 14-person Greater Zion team continues to elevate both local experiences and tourism initiatives. Their cohesive and forward-thinking approach is truly making Washington County “greater” for residents and visitors alike. One standout aspect of their strategy is the emphasis on fostering positive partner relations. Matthew Watson, serving in the unique role of Community & Partner Relations Manager, has already delivered impressive results by strengthening collaborative efforts with local stakeholders.
As the Greater Zion team greatly values the county’s industry partners, the tour primarily focused on the partners and the great work they are doing on the ground. Some highlights about a few of GZ’s newer partners include:
- Zion Canyon Hot Springs: A $60 million project featuring the creation of 50 pools, generating over 200 jobs, including 20 high-paying positions.
- Open Sky Resort: A luxury glamping experience providing visitors with a unique blend of comfort and natural beauty.
- Jellystone: With over 78 locations, Jellystone brings a family-friendly attraction to Utah, featuring RV spots, overnight pods, a water park with a 2,600-person capacity, and employment opportunities for over 120 seasonal and 20 full-time staff.
Other remarkable partners featured on the tour include: The Advenire, River Rock Roasting Company, Zion White Bison Resort, Hotel DeNovo, Oscar’s Restaurant, Davis West Art Gallery, AutoCamp Zion, Añu, Farmstead, Ledges Golf Course, Bold & Delaney Winery, Veyo Pies, Xetava Restaurant, Snow Canyon State Park, and Black Desert Resort.
Overall, the Washington County partner tour highlighted the strength of community partnerships, the impressive progress of local tourism products, and the immense potential for future development. By addressing challenges and leveraging opportunities, the Greater Zion team continues to pave the way for a thriving tourism industry.
