Partner Highlights Blog: Grand County
Members of our CaPR and Marketing teams had the unique opportunity to be hosted by Grand County during a two-day collaborative agency meet up. Mick and Ali with the Moab Utah Office of Tourism have been busy at work refreshing and ramping up tourism efforts, recently bringing on new Media, Public Relations, and Branding agencies! Our time was focused on learning more about the community and agency visions for tourism, connecting with partners and community, as well as experiencing a few things that Moab has to offer their visitors.
Our meetings included a delicious introduction lunch at the Asian and local fusion restaurant, 98 on Center followed by a presentation meeting that informed us on each of our agency efforts and how they fit together in the future of Moab’s tourism picture. We topped off the evening with hors d'oeuvres at Josie Wyatt’s Grille, open to members of the public community to come and talk tourism, giving agencies a better idea of stakeholder perspectives.. We also had the chance to meet with the Moab Tourism Advisory Board (MTAB). The trip was packed full of great conversation and collaboration discussions.
Grand County also took us to explore breathtaking views in Canyonlands National Park with Navtec Expeditions. The knowledge, excitement and wonder the guides shared as they showed off their “backyard” was contagious as we stopped along the river road for petroglyphs, Fossil Point, White Rim, Musselman Arch and Shaefer’s Trail. Some team members also took the opportunity for a self-pay side quest with some local partners on what might be the wildest adventure yet- the Moab Rope Swing! Answering the age old question- “if your friends jumped off a cliff, would you?” The answer is “yes!” And just to show off Moab a little extra, the Northern Lights lit the sky to end with another awe-inspiring experience.
While in Moab, we were able to economize our travel in the community with a roundtable presentation and discussion at the Utah Guides and Outfitters Annual meeting, giving us the opportunity to share resources, better understand the industry sector and discuss communications going forward.
The week was packed, and we can’t thank Grand County enough for connecting and involving us in your efforts to make tourism in Moab a collaborative, community-led, adventurous and memorable experience!
