What is Forever Mighty®?
Forever Mighty is a position, an initiative, and an ethic to ensure resilient destinations and sustainable growth in Utah. With rising visitation and awareness of all that Utah has to offer, it’s more important than ever to protect our treasured places, communities and cultures. It all starts by educating visitors and residents about responsible travel to minimize impacts on our state’s cultural and natural resources. By increasing awareness and education, we can create a perpetual tourism economy while protecting our natural wonders for generations to come.
The Forever Mighty initiative encourages travelers to explore Utah thoughtfully and safely by being well prepared, treating our delicate ecosystems and cultural sites with respect, and engaging with local communities. It also invites residents as well as business and industry stakeholders to take an active role in preserving and enriching Utah through advocacy, ambassadorship and stewardship by following these principles:

The Utah Symphony
From August 10th through August 14th, 2021, the Utah Symphony traveled on the “Forever Mighty® Tour”. Celebrating Utah’s 125th anniversary, its rugged natural beauty, and Western heritage. Music Director Thierry Fischer conducted free outdoor performances with the Utah Symphony in Wellsville, Helper, Bryce Canyon, Kanab, and Springdale.
Tread Lightly!
The Utah Office of Tourism and Tread Lightly! partnered on a campaign to promote responsible OHV/ATV messaging and resources to residents of Utah. Tread Lightly!’s focus on outdoor ethics and stewardship, particularly with higher impact and motorized recreation aligns with the UOT’s Forever Mighty® Initiative. Asa result of this partnership, 7 Brandview illustrated articles have been published on KSL’s Outdoors program.
Tread Lightly! and the Utah Office of Outdoor Recreation completed “Forever Mighty” Outdoor Recreation Summit Stewardship Project in Kanab, UT in October 2021. The project brought a group of conference attendees together for brushing vegetation and installing safety and wayfinding signage in the vicinity of the Hog Canyon Trail #1 connector trail. The Outdoor Recreation Summit stewardship project was inspired by the Utah Office of Tourism’s Forever Mighty initiative, click the video below to learn more about the event.
Leave No Trace
The Utah Office of Tourism and The Leave No Trace Center for Outdoor Ethics partnered to develop and expand a relationship to promote a consistent message of sustainable tourism throughout the state of Utah for both in-state and out-of-state travelers. The scope of work is geared towards planning and implementing mutually beneficial outreach programs, initiatives and messages regarding the care and protection of Utah’s natural resources enjoyed by visitors and residents alike. Key deliverables within the scope include:
Real Salt Lake
The Utah Office of Tourism utilizes their ongoing contract with Real Salt Lake to spread Forever Mighty awareness to a local audience. During each game, a series of 30-second video ads play that display the Forever Mighty brand and direct traffic to VisitUtah.com/Forever. Real Salt Lake also distributes sponsored responsible travel messages to their social media followers via Instagram, Facebook and Twitter through the season. For fans attending the games, they also see digital displays throughout the stadium with messages like “Protect Our Home Turf, Keep Utah Forever Mighty.”
Utah Tourism Conference
The Utah Tourism Industry Association, Visit Ogden, and the Utah Office of Tourism partnered on the inaugural Forever Mighty Service Project at the 2021 Utah Tourism Conference. Over 100 attendees of the conference participated in the volunteer opportunity which set out to maintain, clean up and beautify the Ogden River Parkway. A highlight of the event was painting a “From Metro to Mountain” mural in one of the parkway’s underpasses to mitigate the degradation of the area, enhance the experience for users, and further the art contributions found around the city.
Additionally, the 2021 Utah Tourism Conference featured a “Forever Mighty” content track which attached industry educational topics to the ethics of Forever Mighty – including Messaging Responsible Travel, A Business Case for EDIA, and Sustainability in the Ski Industry.

The Utah Office of Tourism partnered with KSL for a series of Brandview sponsored articles that were published from June through November 2021 with the goal of speaking to Utah residents directly about responsible visitation practices through Forever Mighty inspiration, education and guidance.

Let’s Talk Utah
The Utah Office of Tourism’s series “Let’s Talk Utah” first debuted in 2020 on @VisitUtah’s Instagram and Facebook channels. This social-first series set out with the goals of encouraging authentic conversations about Utah as a well-rounded travel destination and inspiring viewers by providing the necessary tools, information, and confidence to apply a responsible travel mindset to their everyday travels throughout Utah.
