The Utah Office of Tourism’s Community and Partner Relations team, alongside members of the Marketing & Communications team, spent a day exploring the best of Box Elder County—and what better way to experience it all than by following the legendary Fruit Way. From fresh produce and scenic drives to incredible local gems, here are some highlights from the action-packed day.

The day began at Pettingill’s Fruit Farm in Willard, the perfect meeting spot along the famous Fruit Way. Surrounded by lush orchards, we parked our cars, grabbed fresh fruit to snack on, and hopped in with Joan Hammer, Box Elder County's long-standing tourism director, and Lynett Crockett, the county's exceptional marketing tech.

A stop was made at the Bear River Migratory Bird Refuge, an oasis for wildlife and wildlife enthusiasts. Driving the 12-mile auto tour loop showcased incredible conservation efforts, helping to ensure the refuge can be enjoyed for generations to come. If you ever get a chance to drive the loop yourself, make sure to bring your binoculars or check out a pair at the Wildlife Education Center!

Another must-see destination on our route was Crystal Hot Springs. Famous for its mineral-rich waters, this relaxing retreat drew a steady stream of visitors armed with swimsuits and towels, eager to soak in the rejuvenating springs.

The GrilleCounty Fair Grounds, the murals in TremontonMantua Reservoir, and several other spots were showcased during the tour. If time had permitted, there was so much more that could have been explored. Under the thoughtful leadership of Joan, her board, and the collaborative efforts of the community, Box Elder County continues to expand and refine its tourism offerings.

As we wrapped up the day, one thing was clear: Box Elder County isn’t just a destination—it’s a testament to Utah’s natural beauty, rich heritage, and welcoming communities. Whether you're relaxing at the hot springs, exploring wildlife refuges, or sampling the bounty along the Fruit Way, this corner of Utah offers something for everyone.
