Utah is an ideal geocaching destination!
The state of Utah launched the official Visit Utah GeoTour so others can discover what us locals know. Now, high-tech scavenger hunters can enjoy adventures among Utah’s spectacular natural wonders and thought-provoking cultural heritage sites and earn collectible patches along the way.
Where are the cache locations?
The Visit Utah GeoTour features five geocaches in each of Utah’s 29 counties. That’s 145 caches in all, which makes it one of the largest GeoTours in the world. Utah tourism professionals worked alongside some of Utah’s most passionate geocachers to place these caches in locations characterized by extraordinary scenic beauty and cultural significance. The GeoTour is a perfect way to discover Utah’s lesser-known, but incredibly scenic and interesting locations throughout the state.
A cache is found, now what?
Found inside each geocache is a code card with a unique code and instructions to redeem GeoTour awards. After a geocacher finds three of any county’s five geocaches, they write down each geocache’s unique code and complete a code verification form and a brief survey to collect a beautifully designed patch representative of that county. With 29 counties in Utah, geocachers can earn all 29 patches. After a cacher earns 10 patches, they qualify for the Official Visit Utah Geocoin. Geocachers who are ambitious enough to earn all 29 patches qualify for the Utah GeoAmbassador Jacket! Look for the patch-wearing participants in your county!
