Brighton and Solitude opened this Thursday, November 10. Utah's 14 ski resorts will kick off the 2011-12 season with an array of updates, improvements and other news. With over half a billion dollars in infrastructure improvements over the last two years, including new accommodations and redevelopment projects, on-mountain improvements, social media enhancements and added transportation, skiers and riders can experience Utah's winter wonderland at its best yet.
Recent transportation developments from the Utah Transit Authority (UTA) and the state's ski industry have made Utah's destinations more accessible than ever.

UOT Hosts Fourth Super FAM for 2011

UOT hosted its fourth Super FAM October 5-12, leading a group of 28 participants on a motor coach tour of Utah.
Represented were media and travel trade professionals from the United Kingdom, Germany, France, China, Japan and the USA. The group included magazine travel writers from China's DEEP Magazine, who will be writing a 16-page feature; National Geographic; and Faszination Fernweh of Germany.
The tour visited all five national parks and Antelope Island State Park. Many participants were able to explore much of what Salt Lake City has to offer, thanks to partners at Visit Salt Lake. The trip made time for stops at the new Natural History Museum of Utah, Sorrel River Ranch and Red Cliffs Lodge in Moab, Edge of the Cedars State Park Museum, Anasazi State Park Museum, and the Cougar Ridge Lodge in Torrey, among others.

$110 Million Natural History Museum of Utah Opens November 17
In celebration of the completion and opening of the new Natural History Museum of Utah at the Rio Tinto Center, the Museum will be offering free admission on opening day. Opening hours will be 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Information on how to reserve free tickets will be available on the Museum's website starting Friday, November 11, 2011. Advanced reservations are encouraged. Tickets will be available on a limited basis to ensure a positive visitor experience for all attendees.
Thursday, November 17, the evening before the Museum opens to the public, an opening gala will feature the architects, designers, scientists, builders, experts, and artists who all took part in creating this remarkable new Museum. |

Governor Leads Alberta, Canada Trade & Tourism Mission
The Utah Office of Tourism promoted the state's national parks, ski resorts, and other attractions at a gathering for travel trade representatives in Calgary during Governor Gary R. Herbert's trade mission to Alberta, Canada. "Canada is Utah's largest international tourism market and we're looking forward to sharing what's new in the industry with travel trade industry leaders in Alberta as we work to increase visitation from that country," said Governor Herbert.
Tour operators, travel agents, media and other invited guests, joined the Utah delegation at a tourism networking event at the residence of Consul General Laura Lochman in Calgary on Tuesday evening, November 1, 2011.
"Canadians spent an estimated $88 million (USD) in Utah last year and we're optimistic they will continue to have a positive impact on our economy," said Spencer P. Eccles, executive director of the Governor's Office of Economic Development (GOED).
