Utah Board of Tourism Development Approves 28 Cooperative Marketing Projects Totaling $1.5 Million |
Members of the Utah Board of Tourism Development have approved 28 of 32 Cooperative Marketing applications from non-profit tourism entities totaling more than $1.5 million to promote the state to out-of-state visitors. The Utah Office of Tourism received requests totaling more than $1.8 million. The program is now in its seventh year and ninth round of funding.
“This annual program has allowed us to partner with tourism organizations around the state to promote our ‘Life Elevated®’ brand and extend our reach in targeted out-of-state domestic and international markets,” said Leigh von der Esch, managing director of the Utah Office of Tourism.

"Tour of Utah" Bike Race Finishes with Utah Winner
On Sunday, August 14, Utah resident Levi Leipheimer of Team Radio Shack won the Larry H. Miller Tour of Utah for the second consecutive year! The Stage Five (of 409 total miles) final run covered 106.6 miles and 11,000 vertical feet and finished at Snowbird Ski and Summer Resort.
The Tour of Utah gained stature from the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI - global governing body for sport of cycling) as a 2.1-rated stage race earlier this year. It is now one of the top three stage races for road cycling in North America.

SLC Prepares to Host ESTO National Tourism Convention
Tourism leaders from all over the country will converge on Salt Lake City at the end of the month. The Utah Office of Tourism and Visit Salt Lake are making final plans to host the U.S. Travel Association’s 28th Annual Educational Seminar for Tourism Organizations (ESTO), which will be held at the Grand America Hotel from August 28-30, 2011.

Duchesne City Welcome Center Celebrates Ribbon-Cutting
On Tuesday, August 9, UOT joined officials from Duchesne County Economic Development and the local Chamber of Commerce in a ribbon-cutting celebrating the grand opening of the new Duchesne City Welcome Center. The new building offers travel information staff, artifacts and exhibits, and the work of local artists for sale. Congratulations to all those who made this multi-year effort a reality! |
