the Managing Director Leigh von der

The
Governor's Vision Statement outlines: "Utah will
lead the nation as the best performing economy and
be recognized as a premier global business destination." The
accolades received over the past 18 months for properties,
locations, and locally-made movies are keeping
us on pace to achieve the Governor's vision. From
the opening of properties such as the St. Regis Deer
Valley, the Waldorf Astoria at Canyons Resort, and
Amangiri in southern Utah - to the most recent opening
of The Montage Deer Valley; global brands and Utah
are becoming more and more synonymous.
Southern Utah was this week named Lonely Planet's ‘destination
to visit in 2011,’ and the highly-acclaimed movie ‘127 Hours,’ now being shown
internationally, is generating even more interest in our gorgeous red rock country! ‘Travel
and Leisure’ just named Stein Erickson Lodge and the Grand America Hotel among
the 500 best for 2011, and Deer Valley was named best ski resort in North America
once again! We truly have a lot to be proud of.
So here's to a great 2011 and thanks for all you do! |

Launches '127 Hours' Itineraries
for Travelers
Following the release of the Danny Boyle-directed
film 127 Hours, the Utah Office of Tourism
has announced downloadable 127-hour (approximately
5-day) itineraries on travel.utah.gov/127hours.
The film, shot on location in the state’s
majestic red rock country, depicts the story
of hiker Aron Ralston’s 127-hour, life-changing
journey in Utah’s Bluejohn Canyon. The cinematographic
masterpiece, already generating Oscar buzz,
brings the state’s diverse landscape to life
for movie-goers worldwide.
“127 Hours does an incredible job highlighting Utah’s stunning scenery and we
are thrilled our beautiful state is being showcased on such a grand scale,” said
