UOT Releases 2011 Scenic Calendar |
|
The Utah Office of Tourism has released its 2011 Utah ‘Life Elevated®’ Official Scenic Calendar. Now in its 39th year, the annual award-winning publication highlights many of Utah’s iconic destinations, outdoor activities, and events through its stunning photography and award-winning graphic design. The calendar also features a greeting by Governor Gary R. Herbert.
A photo of an arch on the Frying Pan Trail in Capitol Reef National Park, taken by accomplished Utah photographer Willie Holdman, was selected as the cover image. Many other Utah destinations are featured throughout the calendar including all five national parks, as well as Utah’s state parks, ski resorts, national forests, monuments, and recreation areas...

Utah Tourism Board Approves Winter Ad Campaign
UOT will launch a national cable 'Life Elevated®' advertising campaign this winter to promote Utah’s skiing and The Greatest Snow on Earth®. During its monthly meeting in Brian Head, the Board of Tourism Development approved the nearly $1.1 million campaign that consists of several new 30-second commercial spots that will rotate on 13 national cable networks in January. Four Corners National Monument Is Dedicated on September 17
It took almost seven months to complete, but on Friday, September 17, the Navajo Parks and Recreation Department officially dedicated its newly constructed Four Corners Monument. The monument opened in traditional fashion with a prayer from both a Navajo and a Ute medicine man to bless the new plaza and interpretive panels. The Visitor Center is open year round, and features a Demonstration Center with Navajo artisans.

Local Brewers Take Top Awards
Utah beermakers took home top awards at this year's Great American Beer Festival (GABF) in Boulder, Colorado. The winner for best mid-sized brewery and brewer of the year went to the Utah Brewers Cooperative, the company that makes beer under the Wasatch and Squatter's labels. GABF remains the largest commercial beer competition in the world, with 3,523 beers vying for medals. Other local brewers taking medals icluded Redrock, Epic, and Uinta Brewing Co. |
