KANAB - Utah's Little Hollywood
Its nickname of "Little Hollywood," is well earned. Dozens of movies were filmed here, Western Legends Round-Up - A cowboy celebration of music, poetry, movie history and folklore. The three-day festival is held in downtown Kanab every year in September. Phone: (435) 644-5033 Moqui Cave - Privately owned museum of Indian artifacts, dinosaur tracks, and fossils as well as a flourescent mineral display. Located 5 and one-half miles north of Kanab on U.S. 89. Open Monday - Saturday. Hours: Memorial Day - Labor Day, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.; spring and fall 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.; winter 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Best Friends Animal Sanctuary - The nation's largest sanctuary for companion animals. It is situated on 350 acres in the midst of the magnificent red-rock landscape. Located in Angel Canyon (a.k.a. Kanab Canyon) 5 miles north of Kanab on U.S. 89 then turn right into Angel Canyon and proceed for about 1 mile to the Welcome Center. Welcome Center open daily from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. except Christmas. Please call ahead for the tour schedule. Heritage House - Restored to its original glory, it houses a collection of artifacts from Kanab's history. Horse-Drawn Carriage Rides - The Classy Taxi offers tours of Kanab during the summer months.
